Preparation Step 2
This step utilizes the speech recognition technology. The step continues the development of the correct pronunciation while consolidating the target language and vocabulary.
The opening page of this step outlines the following points:
The app works only on a desktop PC. You cannot use this app on a smartphone.
Instructions:
- Open Preparation Step 2 from the menu.
- Press green START button.
- Set the options (Automatically move from line to line or manually move).
- Select Group from menu (Do Part 1 first).
- Press red RECORD button and read line.
- See your results. You can listen as an option.
- If the app makes 3 mistakes in a row, you can move on by pressing the arrow.
- Go to the next phrase if your pronunciation is correct.
- Do Group 1 and Group 2 (upper left hamburger icon menu).
It is best to use a headset with a microphone for this practice because the app will work better when the speaker's voice is very clear. If you use the computer microphone, speak directly into the microphone from a close distance.
The results help the student to understand where there are pronunciation problems.
The feedback identifies the error. Keep in mind voice recognition does not always work well.
Some phrases can be recognized incorrectly even with perfect pronunciation. If you have attempted 3 times without success, use the arrow button to go to the next phrase.
